Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) is a difficult writer to classify; does he write general fiction, science fiction, or fantasy? This is a book club reprint of a compilation of two volumes of his short stories that were published by MacMillan. The Golden Apples of the Sun was originally published in 1953; A Medicine for Melancholy was published in 1956. Red leatherette binding with white and black lettering on spine only. Binding tight, square, clean and bright with no marking inside or out. Only problem is a bit of bumping. Dust jacket notes that this is a book club. Binding clean and bright with a repaired tear at bottom of front board area. There are no other problems except for darkening at spine and a couple nicks at top of back board side. The edges of the spine and the corners of the covers are gently bumped. The front endsheet is cracked along the hinge, and there is a small crack in the rear endsheet along the hinge. There is a faint erased notation from a previous owner on the front free endsheet. In a very good dust jacket, with age-toning. Darkened at the jacket's spine and along the folds. There are numerous small closed and open tears in the edges, and there are 5 pieces of tape on the verso of the jacket. Price-clipped. Drawings by Joe Mugnaini.
