About this Item: London, Lund Humphries/Scribners, 1941., 1941. Book itself is very good. Extremely rare book from World War II with illustrated soft cover. There is also an illustraed repaired dust jacket, of which the original front flap is missing. Brief neat inscription on title page which is quite evocative "all well, still smiling". Illustrated wraps good with chip at back and foot of spine, some creasing and small closed tears at edges, all now professionally reinforced and repaired on reverse and with the front flap replaced with plain white. The Ministry of Defence co-operated in the issuing of this booklet which served to inform the world, and particularly America, of England's plight. The best photographs were contributed by a Vogue lady photographer Lee Miller, whose surreal images are among some of the best to come out of the war. They can still disturb the viewer. .Vogue editor Ernestine Carter edited the book. Enquiries welcome. Paperback. With dj. Seller Inventory # 65260
