Soft cover. Condition: Fine. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. This copy is a first English paperback edition, 27th printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It was signed to the dedication page in blue ballpoint pen. This is an early-1999 variation of Rowling's signature. At this time Rowling was signing books to promote the release of the first paperback edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and fans often brought their copies of Philosopher's Stone to also be signed. This book was first recorded sold at Trevanion Auctioneers & Valuers, Whitchurch on 28th July 2021. Early signed reprints of Philosopher's Stone are highly collectible books. This is a beautiful copy, completely unread, with a tight and square binding and no bowing to the front cover, which is quite rare with these paperback copies. The page edges have hardly any toning which is also very rare and there is no colour fading to the book at all. In fine condition except for some very minor shelf wear to the corners as to be expected and some tiny indentations to the rear wrapper behind the young wizard's head as shown. Internally there are no ownership inscriptions, marks or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases to any of the pages. This book has clearly been very well looked after housed in its custom made quarter leather clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER S STONE , UK SIGNED FIRST EDITION, FOURTH PRINT, AND HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS , UK SIGNED FIRST EDITION SEVENTH PRINT BOX SET. Joanne (Kathleen) Rowling, Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone (1997), UK first edition, fourth printing, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998), UK first edition, seventh printing. Both books published by Bloomsbury in the first issued box set. Both volumes are signed by author J.K. Rowling on the respective half-title pages as shown. Chamber of Secrets is in addition inscribed to Johnny According to Philip Errington s J.K. Rowling: A Bibliogarphy (2017), the first Philosopher printing had a print run of only 500 copies; the second printing followed quickly with a run of 1,000 copies, followed by the third and fourth printing of 500 copies each only (p.4). Condition: Philosopher is as in new condition. The dust jacket is NOT price clipped and a beautiful specimen, unfaded and showing the young wizard as called for. Chamber of Secrets is in as new condition The box is in near fine condition with only trivial shelf wear to the base. This was the first box set that Bloomsbury published for the Harry Potter Saga. As more and more Harry Potters were published until 2007 the publisher eager to capitalise on Potter-mania isuued a new box set containing the latest book together with the volumes that had already been published. A nice set at fair value and genuinely signed by Rowling. Due to the extremely high value of signed UK first hardback first printings editions of The Philosopher s Stone , the early reprints have also become highly collectable and valuable. The value of these books will only increase, probably dramatically, when the new HBO series arrives on our screens in late 2026. Just as a side note, signed Harry Potter Books have outstripped investing in gold, silver, platinum, and diamonds combined. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: As New. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. This is an authentic J.K. Rowling inscription found in a first UK edition, 13th printing, paperback copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This is a summer-1998 Rowling signature variation and is particularly rare. At this time Rowling wasn't well known and she was able to spend more time with fans and create more personalised inscriptions in her books for them as is seen here. This particular book was signed at the recipient Kathleen's place of work and was kept by her until 2024. This copy is in extremely fine condition with no fading or creasing at all to the spine, and with an incredibly tight and square binding. It is clearly unread and in near perfect condition with no colour fading and no creases at all to the spine, a stunning example of a paperback book. Internally there are no inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases. It has clearly been very well looked after and comes housed in a custom made quarter leather red clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. Soft cover. Condition: As New. No Jacket. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. This is an authentic inscribed copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint pen to the dedication page. The original recipient, Caroline, was an employee at Waterstones, Reading, when J.K. Rowling visited to read to children from local primary schools and was responsible for looking after the authors who visited. This is one of a number of such events Rowling took part in before the phenomenon of Harry Potter really took off in 1999. Following the reading J.K. Rowling answered questions from the children and signed copies of her books. This is the book which she signed for Caroline who kept it for over 25 years before she sold it in May 2024. Soft cover. Condition: Fine. No Jacket. Grandpré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. The copy presented here is a first English paperback edition, 27th printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. It contains a 1999 variation of J.K. Rowling's signature and was signed to the dedication page in blue ballpoint pen ' To Lily, you will know that I love your name because I used it for Harry's mum!' Lily was the daughter of illustrator, Ian Beck, at the Hay Literary Festival. Ian knew the publicity and editorial team at Bloomsbury who introduced him to J.K. Rowling who was happy to inscribe this book for his daughter. This is a beautiful copy completely unread, with no colour fading at all to the spine. The page edges are surprising white and fresh which is incredibly rare for this book. They are often found with significant toning  due to the cheap paper stock used. It still has an incredibly tight binding, and hardly any bend or bowing to the front cover which is again very rare. The only minor flaw to the book is a slight nick to the base of the spine and a very minor water mark to the bottom of the half title page, otherwise this book is in stunning fine condition. There are no ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind with no dog eared pages, folds or creases to any of the pages. The book overall has clearly been very well looked after housed in its custom made quarter leather clamshell box with bespoke gold lettering to the spine. The signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'theharrypotterspecialist' the world's leading expert in authenticating Jo's signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. This book was previously owned by Adam himself having bought it in 2022 directly from the original owner. It comes with provenance in the form of an email and hand written letter by Ian Beck to Adam Houston. Inscribed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Joanne (Kathleen) Rowling (1997 2007), a full set of all seven Harry Potter UK first edition books, published by Bloomsbury. All are signed by Rowling except the first volume which has a signed bookplate loosely laid in. The books are housed spectacularly in full leather solander boxes for perfect protection, and those in turn placed in a buckram box for easy transport or display on the shelf. No expense has been spared to create the perfect housing environment for the set whilst allowing a beautiful presentation. The set consists of: 1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone (1997), UK hardback first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. Comes with a loose Bloomsbury bookplate signed by Rowling; all first edition points present the Wendy Cooling blurb on the front panel; the rear panel bears the typo with an o missing in Philosopher s and Hogwarts School of Wizardy and Witchcraft instead of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardy. Page 53 lists wand twice as called for. No dust jacket as issued. One of only 500 copies printed of which the majority (300) went into public libraries. This is NOT an ex-library copy. It has been professionally restored (spine tips and boards' corners) by a leading conservationist in the UK and now presents in near fine condition with one closed tear to the first text page as shown. 2) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998), UK first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. Signed by Rowling on the title page. In near fine condition as shown 3) Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (1999), UK first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. This is the second state with J.K. Rowling credited correctly on the copyright page. Signed by Rowling on the title page and by the dust jacket illustrator Cliff Wright on the opposite page. In near fine condition. 4) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2000), UK first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. This is the rarer Scottish variant printed by Omnia. Signed by Rowling on the title page. In very good condition with the page block edges showing ageing 5) Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2003), UK first edition, first printing. Signed by the author on the title page. Scarce as a signed first edition since Rowling did not do any promotional tour for this title. In very good condition with some ageing/ yellowing to the page block as shown. 6) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2005), UK first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. Signed and inscribed by the author to Mel on the title page. Exceptionally scarce to find signed as there were no promotional events for this title. 7) Harry Potter the Deathly Hallows (2007), UK first edition, first printing, published by Bloomsbury. Signed and inscribed by Rowling on the title page to Lindsey . This copy was signed at the only midnight signing event in July 2007. One of only 1,700 copies signed at the event. A wonderful set of all UK hardback first editions, first prints of the seminal Harry Potter series. Presented beautifully with the solander boxes and treasure case. Ideal for a fan, or as in investment which has beaten inflation and the stock market by far over the past 25 years and counting. First and Fine. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. Joanne (Kathleen) Rowling (1997) 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone', UK first edition, first printing, in paperback, published by Bloomsbury. Together with an original handwritten card signed by Rowling. Both items housed in a bespoke full leather solander box. The book: this is the true paperback first edition with all first issue points present: the Wendy Cooling blurb on the front panel; the rear panel bears the typo with an 'o' missing in "Philosopher's" and "Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft" instead of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Page 53 lists 'wand' twice as called for. No dust jacket as issued. One of only 5,150 copies printed of which the majority have not survived the passage of time in such beautiful unread condition. The book is in fine condition, unread and with an unbroken spine. There are no previous owner's marks, no stamps, no bookplates. No creasing to spine or wraps whatsoever. No fading to the spine as often seen. Slight toning of paper commensurate with age. This is a natural process due to the cheap paper stock used by the publisher and inevitable over time. A superb copy, and we have never seen a better specimen. The card: handwritten on both sides, measuring 5.75″ x 4.25″, on Rowling's personal stationery card, no date but circa 2001, and addressed to Don Mackenzie. Rowling discusses her new home in Edinburgh, often referred to as the birthplace of Harry Potter and calls her garden an "enchanted place." Boldly signed by Rowling as "J.K. Rowling." Authenticated and encapsulated by PSA to an overall size of 6.5″ x 10″ Rowling writes, in full: "Dear Don, Thank you very much for your letter. I love reading about your memories of Killiechassie. Yes, the walled garden is still an enchanted place it was that that made me want the house more than anything else. And we have also found the freezer! Though I have not walked into it yet (claustrophobia). Yes, do you recognize the Killin viaduct! With best wishes JK Rowling" Edinburgh, often hailed as the birthplace of Harry Potter, has been home to J.K. Rowling since 1993, though she also owns properties elsewhere in the UK and abroad. In 2001, Rowling purchased Killiechassie, a historic country estate near Weem, approximately 74 miles north of Edinburgh, which was once owned by the Douglas family in the 19th century. The estate, situated on 12 acres along the River Tay, became the site of Rowling's marriage to Neil Murray, with the ceremony held in the estate's library on December 26, 2001. The solander box: full red goatskin with five raised bands, title, author, and first edition 1997 to the spine. Internally lined in black suedel which cushions the book and protects it perfectly in a special compartment. A luxurious presentation on the shelf whilst offering perfect protection. Rowling and Harry Potter need no further introduction. The most popular children fantasy series of the last decades which sold hundreds of million copies world wide in its over 60 languages to date. Perhaps Rowling's most important credit is that with the captivating story of a young wizard boy named Harry Potter she made reading 'cool' again for an entire generation of kids which grew up on electronic media entertainment. A highly coveted book and we are proud to be able to offer this copy to collectors conscious to the historical significance of this copy. Stored in a safety deposit box outside our premises. First and Fine. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. An early 18th edition paperback of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, paired with a first print hardback of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, both signed by J.K. Rowling on the dedication page at the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds, July 1998. The books come with documented provenance, as featured in a comprehensive article in The Star newspaper. Additionally, this set includes a very rare 'Friend of Potter' button. These buttons were distributed by Bloomsbury in early 1998 exclusively to bookstore staff for use during a signing event. According to a reliable source, fewer than 100 were issued. This button has since become a highly collectible item. A handwritten card from the original owner, Dr. Francesca Roe, recounts her experience at the July 1998 reading and signing event in Leeds. Dr. Roe, aged eight at the time, attended the event with her parents and younger brother, Max. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is in near fine condition. The boards are bright and unfaded, with only a hint of bumping at both ends of the spine and the front corner tips. The corners of the back cover are sharp. The binding is firm, the endpapers are clean, and the pages have only minor browning at the edges. There is a small round black spot on pages 38 and 39, and a narrow brown streak on pages 139 and 140. Otherwise, the content is completely clean with no names, inscriptions, dog-eared pages, or other defects. The first-state dust jacket is also near fine. The inner flaps have very light fading along the top edge (around 4 mm), and the corner points are slightly bumped. Other than that, the dust jacket is in excellent condition, with no spine fading, shelf wear, or edge wear. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is in VG condition. The cover has some light creases, with 1 cm of wear at the base of the spine, and the corners are bumped. The first four pages show slight waviness, with a small mark on pages 7 and 46/47, and a stain on the fore edge that lightly extends onto the pages, but no names, inscriptions or other flaws. The scarce "Friend of Potter button" that comes with the books is in a fine condition. Fully authenticated by J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist and includes a Letter of Authenticity (LoA), along with a collector's card containing further interesting details. Signed by Author(s).

[Fantasy] ALL FIRST EDITIONS, FIRST PRINTINGS, IN DELUXE BINDINGS, with the three supplemental works. Volume I SIGNED by the artist Thomas Taylor, in black ink to front cover. Together ten volumes, octavo (26 x 17 x 36cm). Original uniform harlequin cloth (7 vols), with gilt decoration, illustrations to upper covers, and all edges gilt (some in shrinkwrap). Additional volumes (3 vols) in publisher's illustrated covers. Volumes II to VII in shrink-wrap, as-new; volume one a fine copy. The deluxe issue is a larger format, in decorative cloth binding. Harry Potter's award-winning wizarding adventures have had an unrivalled impact in popular culture today; indeed, some experts have referred to adults between the ages of roughly 20-30 years old as 'the Harry Potter generation', who are seen to hold markedly different values to their parents. Harry Potter is a series of many genres, including fantasy, bildungsroman, and the British school story (which includes elements of mystery, thriller, adventure, and romance). According to Rowling, the main theme of the books is death although prejudice, corruption, and madness can be seen as dominant motifs.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. The very scarce first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, published by Bloomsbury on 26 June 1997. Printing number line: 10 - 1; Wendy Cooling quote on the front cover; '1 wand' appears twice on page 53; 'Philospher's' on the back cover; and 'Wizardry and Witchcraft' [instead of 'Witchcraft and Wizardry'] on the back cover. No dust jacket as issued. Bloomsbury has confirmed that 5,150 paperbacks and 500 hardbacks were issued in the first print run. The hardbacks were primarily intended for libraries, with 300 eventually being sent there. The remaining 200 copies were sold through bookstores. This is one of those latter copies. On the title page, the following inscription is written: "14th November 1997 (7yrs) To our beautiful and much loved daughter Hannah - enjoy the book. All our love, Mummy and Daddy", undersigned with four kiss marks and a small doodle. Below that, Hannah has written her name in blue marker. The book was owned by Hannah for 25 years and was frequently read during that time, leaving its marks on the cover. When we received the book from the original owner, the plastic film layer was gone, and both the spine and corners were damaged. However, the contents of the book remained in excellent condition, with only a small, unobtrusive stain on page 84 and no other wear. The damage to the cover was repaired by Marchelma van Breugel, one of the most prominent restorers of modern books. This restoration was carried out in full accordance with reversible conditions, allowing the book to be returned to its original state at any time. The primary purpose of this restoration is to ensure the book is optimally preserved. A very important conservation technique has also been applied to this particular copy: The paper used for this book contains lignin, which changes color from yellow to dark brown under the influence of air, light, and heat. This acidification is often visible in old Harry Potter books, starting with discoloration along the edges of the pages and eventually affecting the entire sheet. This process makes the paper increasingly brittle, causing it to chip, tear, and crumble over time. The process continues as long as acid remains in the paper. This copy was made acid-free by Marchelma van Breugel, whose skills are frequently sought after by renowned museums. Thanks to this treatment, the acidification process has been halted. The final result is a highly representative copy of this rare and valuable book. Loosely inserted is a signed Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone postcard, accompanied by a letter from J.K. Rowling's office. With this signed postcard comes a letter of authenticity from J.K. Rowling signature expert Adam Houston of The Harry Potter Specialist, along with a collector's card detailing this rare signed item. For protection as well as display, an exceptional box was designed for this copy, combining classic elements such as brass lettering and a velvet inlay while incorporating contemporary details. The box was masterfully crafted by Jan Camps, a multiple winner of the SOB International bookbinding competition. Signed by Author(s).

Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING, PAPERBACK ISSUE. AUTHOR'S PRESENTATION COPY, INSCRIBED by J.K. ROWLING: "to Davey and Tommy great to meet you at last! J.K. Rowling." The recipient's mother is Jenny Brown, Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. Brown served as Director of Literature at the Scottish Arts Council (SAC) from 1996 through 2002. This copy comes from the Brown family via Bonhams (sale December 1, 2021, lot 165) We find just four other inscribed presentation copies of the first printing with documented provenance in public auction records. Only two of these four has a literary association (see below). In 1996 Jenny Brown, the newly appointed Director of Literature at the SAC, led an initiative to establish a new program to support authors of children's literature. The first applicant to the award for children's literature was J.K. Rowling. In 1996 Rowling received an £8000 grant from the SAC. Rowling later told the chairman of the Arts Council, Magnus Linklater, that the award "transformed her life by allowing her to pay for childcare during the whole of a year, it had allowed her to complete the second Harry Potter volume at a time when she had no prospects of success for the first" (Magnus Linklater, Prospect Magazine). NOTE: The other four inscribed presentation copies of the first printing with documented provenance found in auction records comprise: a copy inscribed to Bryony Evens, office manager at Christopher Little, Rowling's literary agency (Bonhams, 2020); a copy inscribed to a personal friend from Rowling's daughter's daycare in Edinburgh (Bonhams, 2017); a softcover printing inscribed to Rowling's father (Sotheby's, 2003); and a softcover printing inscribed to the first journalist to interview Rowling (Heritage, 2010). Bloomsbury, 1997. Octavo, publisher's pictorial wrappers (misspelling "Philospher"), paperback issue (number sequence from 10 to 1); faint trace of damp at lower margin of opening and final few leaves, typical paper toning, few creases and abrasions, laminate separated in places with minor loss. Inscribed by Author(s).
