Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. GrandPré, Mary (illustrator). 1st Edition. In October 1998, J.K. Rowling embarked on a 3-week promotional book tour around America - this was her first of four trips to the United States she would make throughout the rest of the series. The book was inscribed during the first American tour to Bob Enz who was an elementary school principal in San Jose. J.K. Rowling visited and read at Bob's school. A hand written note by Bob (included in this sale) details the visit and his meeting with Jo. This is a beautiful copy of the first US edition with all of the important true first printing points present: The book has a red spine with purple boards, which says J.K. Rowling not just Rowling at the top, it has the numberline 1 3 5 7 9 10 8 6 4 2 and states that it is printed in the U.S.A. The dust jacket is the first state dust jacket whereby the title has raised gold letters, the spine does not have the number 1 on it and will show a quote on the rear of the jacket from The Guardian, not Publisher's weekly. It will also have the correct price of $16.95 on the inner front flap. The book is in fine condition with clean, fresh white pages with no marks or inscriptions of any kind. The boards are square with sharp corners and no toning or foxing to the pages. The front board has an ownership sticker which states 'From the library of Bob Enz' who was the original owner. The dust jacket itself is in fine condition protected in a Brodart jacket cover. This signature and inscription come fully authenticated by Adam Houston theHarryPotterspecialist the world s leading expert in authenticating Jo s signature. It comes with a full authentication package including a letter of authenticity, collector card and provenance. Inscribed by Author(s).

Condition: Fine in a fine jacket. GrandPré, Mary (illustrator). Later printing. Signed early printing of the US edition of the first book in the Harry Potter series, with the slightly altered title (from "Philosopher's" to "Sorcercer's") and the vivid illustrations by Mary GrandPré. The Harry Potter series, about a boy who goes to a wizard school, has been the biggest literary phenomenon of our lifetime. The books remain formative for millions, including the many readers who reject Rowling's agitations against trans rights. This copy from the personal collection of Mary and Robert Brown, longtime owners of Books, Bytes, and Beyond bookstore in Glen Rock, NJ, who hosted Rowling for an event in October 1999, where this book was signed. Due to the strength of the forgery market, Rowling signatures are justifiably suspect. Authentically signed copies with clear provenance, like this one, are therefore more desirable. An excellent example of her early signature. 9'' x 6''. Original quarter red cloth, purple paper boards, gilt-lettered spine (no "Year 1"). In original unclipped ($17.95) color pictorial dust jacket with art by GrandPré. Dark green endpapers. Illustrated throughout in black and white by Grandpré. 21st printing. viii, 309, [1], [2] pages. Signed by Rowling in black ink on title page. Overall clean, bright, sharp, and tight.

Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. First American edition, First Printing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. This rare association copy of J.K. Rowling's debut novel was signed in October 1998, the month of its U.S. publication. Rowling signed the book on the verso of the half-title page for Jim Aylesworth (b. 1943), a respected American children's author with over 30 published works. The signing of this copy was arranged by Scholastic, the publisher for both Rowling and Aylesworth. Association copies like this signed and exchanged within literary circles carry special significance for collectors. Aylesworth's distinguished career in children s literature further enhances the importance of this copy, highlighting a connection between two celebrated authors. Notably, 1998 also marked the first time Scholastic published a book by Jim Aylesworth. Added is a first edition of The Gingerbread Man, signed and doodled by the author Jim Aylesworth in the year of publication, also published by Scholastic in 1998. A Fine, Near Pristine copy in a Fine dust jacket without any fading or wear. Housed in a custom-made half-leather clamshell box. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston of TheHarryPotterSpecialist, the world's sole J.K. Rowling signature expert, and an informative collector's card that provides additional details. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First American edition, second printing of "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone" (the USA-adapted title of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"), signed in October 1998 by J.K. Rowling on the verso of the half-title page. The book was signed during Rowling's first American tour, during which she met groups of only 100-200 people. This situation would change drastically the following year for her second American tour, after the Harry Potter hype had taken off. Signed American editions with a 1998 signature are therefore extremely rare. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity (LoA) from Adam Houston (TheHarryPotterSpecialist), the world's sole J.K. Rowling signature expert and an informative collector's card that provides additional details. The book is in near fine, unread condition with bumped spine ends, minor scratches on some page edges, and, inconspicuously due to the use of a black pen on a green background, the previous owner's name on the first free endpaper. The first-state dust jacket, featuring a review from The Guardian on the rear panel, is also in near fine condition. The jacket is slightly wrinkled at the spine ends but without fading or noticeable wear .A highly collectible early signed Harry Potter book, housed in a beautiful custom-made half-leather clamshell box. Signed by Author(s).

Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First American edition. A solid Near Fine copy of the book in like jacket. Book with a small knock to the lower text block, with some corresponding wrinkling to the lower corner of several pages. In a very attractive dust jacket with The Guardian blurb on the rear panel (as required for the first issue jacket). Signed (without dedication) by the author on the blank verso of the half-title (a location that she only used in her first US tour, later opting for the title page or dedication page). Overall, a handsome copy of a book that reshaped popular culture. This first print run was limited to 30,000 copies. Later volumes in the series had initial print runs that soared into the millions. Initiating Rowling's now-classic series, Sorcerer's Stone introduced Harry Potter and the wizarding world to muggle readers across the U.S. Released soon after the British first edition titled Philosopher's Stone, the novel follows the orphan Harry as he discovers the truth about his parents, leaving the abusive home of his aunt to begin his magical training in the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School. Alongside new friends Hermione and Ron, Harry begins to realize that not all is as it seems, and that evil forces will soon require him to be a hero. Near Fine in Near Fine dust jacket.
