Volume I covers the parishes of Kilkeel, St Mary's, Iveagh, Kilcoo, Maghera, Kilmegan, Kinlarty, Loughinisland, Lecale, Ballykinlar, Bright, Dundford and Ardglass, Ballee, Kilclief, Saul, Down, Inch, Saintfield, Portaferry, Ballygalit, and Ardkeen. In addition to the ecclesiastical history volume I contains the general history, antiquities, legands, bardic stories, and genealogical accounts of ancient families etc, etc. Gold-blocked green textured boards, the front board with a round tower in an black oval cartouche, and the title on the spine in a black panel. The book is in very good condition, in a very good dustwrapper. Monsignor O'Laverty was Parish Priest of Holywood, Co Down, admired and respected across the whole community, and a splendid historian.
