Early days in Cass County, MI, are recalled in this new 131-page spiral-bound book titled: Cass County, Michigan, USA This is a reprint of History of Cass County from 1825 to 1875, written by Howard S. Rogers and published at Cassopolis, MI, in 1975. The tri-color cover is printed on 80# card stock and protected with a vinyl sheet. The text is printed on 8.5" x 11" opaque paper. Among the subjects included are: Physical features; Early settlers in the county and in various communities; Names of County and local officials throughout the period; the Underground Railroad; the towns of Marcellus, Volinia, Wayne Twp., Silver Creek Twp., Newberg Twp., Penn Twp., La Grange Twp., Pokagon Twp., Porter Twp.; Calvin Twp., Jefferson Twp., Howard Twp., Mason Twp., Ontwa Twp., and Milton Twp.; The county seat-- Cassopolis; the city of Dowagiac; the Agricultural Society; Cass County in the Civil War; and other interesting bits of history and trivia.
