Marie Hay, born as Agnes Blanche Marie Hay-Drummond & later Agnes Blanche Marie Baron von Hindenburg (née Hay-Drummond) (1873-1938) was an English writer who mainly wrote biographical historical novels. FINE BINDING by Bumpus of Oxford. Beautifully bound in full calf LEATHER, arms in gilt & blue to front board (replicating the original cover), gilt lettering to spine, raised bands, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed, gilt-ruled edges & turn-ins, ribbon page marker. With new endpapers, plus original front & rear pictorial map endpapers, plus original front & rear cloth covers (brown cloth with gilt/blue arms stamped to front which is identical to front of the leather board), all preserved & bound in. Contains former owner's wonderfully-detailed engraved bookplate to front pastedown (Hilda Chichester, the recipient of the author's inscription).
