A tight, very good, unmarked, half leather, copy with original end papers, all edges marbled. Corners are bumped with wear and edge wear. Interior page are clean, unmarked and crisp. Laid in is an original period flier extolling the new printer of this book saying "Comrades of the 1st Maine Cavalry and Readers." The 1st Maine Cavalry had an extensive combat career: Shenandoah Valley in 1862, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Valley again in 1864, and Petersburg. This Military Unit is noted for suffering the highest casualty rates of any Union Calvary Regiment. Seller Inventory # 003320
