Gold colored print on spine. Spine has burn/stain along front edge which migrates over to front cover. Light rubwear at spine top but bottom has a small scallop out of it. Decorative green floral pattern end papers. Contents tight sound and unmarked. 226 pages. Identification of volume is not clear. Set has eight volumes. Contents are marked Mckinley's Administration - Continued, 1897 - 1901. The bulk of the book is about the Spanish-American War. If interested in complete Ellis Set see our 1279, different edition.

Each volume is in wrappers and all are similar, but not identical with an eagle under which is a portrait of Washington who is surrounded by five historical figures. The jackets are intact, but worn along edges. The interior is good to very good, stapled and include many illustrations, some in color.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Felix O. C. Darley (illustrator). Volume II: Beautiful book with gilt imprints of George Washington and a schooner ship on the front cover. Fore edge is decorated almost Venitian-like designs. The bottom front corner is frayed. The other corners are sharp. The end papers are clean except for a pencil price on a secondary front end paper. This book is square and tight. The interior hinges are taped in such a way that it is hard to know if this was done as manufactured or these were added later. There are beautiful illustrations with 12 steel-engraved illustrations and over 500 illustrations.
