Bookplates to all volumes of Alfred and Otto Beit. Alfred Beit financier and philanthropist, lived at Tewin Water, Welwyn, Hertfordshire. He was much involved in the politics and business of South Africa, friend and buisness partner of Cecil Rhodes. He never married and his estate was inherited by his younger brother Otto. The two different engraved bookplates have illustrations of the house and a view from the library. The books are in their original three quarter bound calf and marbled boards. Gilt to the page tops and marbled endpapers. They are in very good condition with slight rubbing to the edges. Nice strong hinges and textblocks. Contents very good.
