A new edition, carefully revised, corrected, and much improved by a member of the United Secession Church. Over-sized (quarto). Three-quarter tan leather with marbled paper boards. The binding is tender, but it is intact. Small chips to the top and bottom of the spine. We have treated the leather with a professional book conservator's leather dressing to good effect. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. A little bit of foxing here and there. Ten full page engravings. No name of previous owner. No odor. No water damage. No soiling. [lxxi]+[64]+[70]+[80]+[96]+1446+[64]pp. Colorful title pages, numerous engravings, and several color maps. Reading copy only. Boards and spine leather detached. Boards bumped and scuffed, and front board dampstained and lightly warped; front pastedown soiled. Front free endpaper lacking and preliminary pages loose and dampstained. Pages toned and numerous chips, tears, and lacking corners. Additional dampstaining and a few loose pages throughout. Includes many trappings of its early owners, Walter and Lucy Brownley, including a lovely gifter's inscription and well-used family record pages (much of the notation made by someone with a clear flair for decorative penmanship), the receipt for the original purchase of the book, a clipping of hair, a badly faded 19th century photo of a baby, and several prayer cards, poems, and colorful clippings. About this Item: Blackie & Son, Glasgow, 1884. Half Bound Leather. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. A beautiful 2 volume set, half bound dark green leather with five banded spine enhanced with gilt. Some minor foxing to end papers but rest of text quite clean. Fold out maps and illustrations still attached and intact although vol I has small tear to map. Both volumes in very good condition, boards show shelf wear and usage, spines have very slight rubbing , but hinges are fully intact. About this Item: Virtue And Co, London, 1111. Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. "The Self-Interpreting Bible". Large size. Not dated; believed to be late 1870s. In fairly good, black leather cloth with blind stamped dentelle edges and central decoration o front and back; red title field, gilt titles, highly decorated with five raised horizontal bands. The covers are firm, very slight wobble (due to size and thickness), edge-worn, corners and spine ends frayed. Quite clean blue, white and orange patterned end papers; leather name plate with 'James Henry 1870' on front paste down. With blue tape down central join. Age-toned and dirty patterned cut edges. The text block is printed in two columns; the psalms in four columns. The pages are tightly bound and quite clean, with some foxing. Beautiful etchings and colour illustrations throughout, including frontispiece etching of Moses, with tissue guard (foxed). Very heavy - high postage costs.
