About this Item: Mack, 2013. Hardcover. Condition: New. 2nd Printing. SIGNED COPY Mack, 2013. Softcover. First edition, second printing. (first printing sold out immediately). 768pp., 654 color illustrations, 6-1/2x8-1/2". SIGNED by both Broomberg and Chanarin. Book Condition: New/Fine. SIGNED From publisher: For their most recent work, Holy Bible, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin mined this archive with philosopher Adi Ophirís central tenet in mind: that God reveals himself predominantly through catastrophe and that power structures within the Bible correlate with those within modern systems of governance. The format of Broomberg and Chanarinís illustrated Holy Bible mimics both the precise structure and the physical form of the King James Version. By allowing elements of the original text to guide their image selection, the artists explore themes of authorship, and the unspoken criteria used to determine acceptable evidence of conflict. Inspired in part by the annotations and images Bertolt Brecht added to his own personal bible, Broomberg and Chanarinís publication questions the clichés at play within the visual representation of conflict. There is a connection to Jamaica(Benjamin S. Francis) and St. Peter, Guadaloupe(John Francis). Aaron Francis was a Lieutenant in the Revolutionary War. This is obviously Ruth Francis Perkins' Bible as the Bible was published after the death of her husband, Mr. Perkins. Most of these people are buried in the Boston area, and I have the specifics on them all. At some time, they must have moved South, for I found the Bible in Memphis, Tennessee. SWAF. BOLDLY SIGNED BY HENRY FORD ON FRONT FLY. From a collection of materials belonging to George Washington Carver that we recently purchased (including letters, photos and personal items). George Washington Carver was a favorite of Henry Ford, visiting Dearborn in 1937, and actually staying in town doing research in 1942. Ford visited Carver in Tuskegee, too, as the two worked on a synthetic rubber and various other materials to be used in auto construction. Unfortunately, Ford did not write a presentation to Carver, and Carver did not write his name in the book, either. Seller Inventory # 98-7686
