Condition: Acceptable. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes--in pen or highlighter--but notes cannot obscure the text. A good condition book. Undated but circa early 1900s from the annotation on the front free endpaper dated 1907. The largest issue with this copy is the heavy wear to the board and spine edges, but the binding around the boards remains firm. The internal contents remain tightly bound and the majority of the contents are in impressively clear and bright condition for the age of the book. A lovely reading copy.

Leather. Condition: Very Good. None (illustrator). A copy of Edward Hoppus' Tables of Measuring. Bound in diced leather with gilt decoration to the spine. With Alexander Davis' ink signature on the front pastedown. Edward Hoppus (d. 1739), was a surveyor for the London Assurance Corporation and is best known for his book Practical Measuring, first published in 1736. This was a manual for building surveyors that was in print until the mid-twentieth century, when it was made obsolete by metrication. Hoppus introduced the 'hoppus' cubic foot in the manual. This was the standard volume measurement used for timber in the British Empire and countries in the British sphere of influence before the introduction of metric units. It is still used in the hardwood trade of some countries. In a full calf binding. There is some wear to the extremities, including bumping and a small ink inscription on the front board. The hinges are starting. The front inner hinge is mildly strained. There is an ink inscription on the front pastedown. The binding is loose in a couple of places. Internally the pages are bright and generally clean, with some intermittent mild spotting and the occasional handling mark. The frontispiece has a closed tear, and page 71-72 is detached.
