About this Item: Liveright / W. W. Norton & Company, New York, 2017. Hard Cover. Condition: VG+. Dust Jacket Condition: NF. First Edition, First Printing. SIGNED - Octavo. Black boards quarterbound in a black cloth backstrip with shiny gilt lettering on the spine and a shiny gilt Liveright logo on the lower edge of the front board. This is a new book that has never been read, but it does have a few problems. Fair amount of bumping at the head and tail of the spine and a 2/3" split in the backstrip that runs in from the rear corner of the head of the spine - not real visible, but present, all the same. White endpapers. Signed by the author in black pen on a special tip in page bound into the front of the book by the publisher. Binding is straight and tight. Arrived from the publisher with some light marks on the outside edge of the textblcok - pages are otherwise all clean, white, and crisp. 722 pages. Dust Jacket - has just a trace of rubbing at the head and tail of the spine and at the very tips of each of the four outside corners. Very nice overall appearance. Signed by the Author. About this Item: Harper & Brothers, 1961. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. The book that launched one of the most legendary careers in both book writing and the writing of screenplays for Hollywood. Horseman, Pass By was Mr. McMurtry's first novel and was famously the basis for the Academy Award-winning film, Hud starring Paul Newman, Melvyn Douglas and Patricia Neal. The film was nominated for seven Oscars and took home 4. Other works by McMurtry include The Last Picture Show, Terms of Endearment and the Pulitzer Prize-Winning Lonesome Dove. That last title was the basis for the mini-series of the same name and is still widely-lauded as the best broadcast television mini-series of all time. Book is in Near-Fine condition and has been signed by the author. Spine is straight and true. No bumps to board, no tears or dog ears to pages and no markings. First Edition, First Printing. Flat-signed to the title page. Harper & Brothers. 1961. DJ is in Near-Fine condition, mylar-encased and is brightly colored with no fading whatsoever. No chipping to corners and no tears. Light wrinkling and rubbing to base of spine, some very light wear to the top half of the front fold. and 1/3" light wear lines to the top front and rear folds near the spine. Fine or flawless DJs are a rarity with this title, but this is awfully close. Overall, this is a stunning and highly-collectible example. DJ has the original issue price of $3.50 present. The book was flat-signed to the title page by Larry McMurtry at The Tucson Festival Of Books in March 2014. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # ABE-12416522663
