London, James Ridgway, 1826. Widmungsexemplar auf Vélinpapier an Zar Nikolaus Pawlowitch I. von Russland (1798-1855). Die Widmung findet sich prominent in Goldprägung auf dem Vorderdeckel: "To Nicholas the First Emperor of all the Russias. Presented by the Author". Auf dem Vortitel kaiserlicher Stempel 'Bibliothèque de Tsarskoe Selo', der für jene Bücher Verwendung fand, die in der im Alexander-Palast in Puschkin unweit von Sankt Petersburg untergebrachten Privatbibliothek von Nikolaus I. standen. Der schottische Gärtner und Gartenschriftsteller, "on instructions from John Russel, 6th duke of Bedford, at Woburn Abbey, and under the direction of Sir Humphry Davy, Sinclair conducted an extensive series of experiments on the nutritive qualities of various types of animal fodder. The results were published in 1816 in Hortus gamineus Woburnensis, an expensive folio volume containing dried specimens of the grasses.
