About this Item: Pantheon New York, 2000. Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: New. 1st Edition... The hardcover first edition was limited to 2,000 copies. It was issued with a confusing amount of information, and technically the first complete edition was actually issued on the internet. Thus, we have 'FIRST EDITION' on the copyright page, with a full number line, but '2nd Edition' is stated at the foot of the title page. A thousand copies were unsigned with a different ISBN.( #0-375-42052-5) and a thousand copies were signed by the author and issued with the ISBN # 0-375-41034-1, which is what I am offering here. This ISBN appears on the rear panel of the jacket. Greeted with a cult status while on the internet, and hailed as such by reviewers, this book has gone on accruing rapturous plaudits. This is a large format hardcover, issued with a tipped in special page with a large 'Z' in blue ink. This unique book is still special, and its impact on the reader is powerful. This particular copy is UNREAD and was opened only to check that all the correct attributes were present. It is hard to understand with hindsight how the initial print run was remaindered, but many of the signed firsts have a red remainder dot on top, as does this. If that bothers you then don't buy this copy. Language: eng Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0 Language: eng 0.0. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # ABE-2428051823

About this Item: Pantheon Books, New York, 2000. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition/First Printing, with the correct number line beginning with 1. Has the author requested 2nd Edition stated on the bottom of the title page, although this is the First Edition/First Printing. Hardcover, in unclipped dustjacket. 709 pages. An extraordinary novel which has already achieved cult status in the U.S. mainly because of it's unusual construction and presentation. Compared to the works of Pynchon among others. 2000 hardcover copies were printed. Illustrated, 2-color edition. This is one of the 800 that were signed on a tipped in page in blue. Has the correct "First Issue" dustjacket with number "1" on the dustjacket rear cover at the ISBN panel. Has achieved cult status over the years and is very collectable. In protective clear book cover. No remainder dot. Other than a few very light and tiny spots to the top of the page edges, this is a fine book in a fine dustjacket. Unread. From my smoke-free collection. Ships in well-padded box. Signed by Author(s). Seller Inventory # 2321

About this Item: Pantheon Books - Random House, 2000. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. F/F first edition signed twice - first with tipped in page signed with a purple Phl, one of only 15 copies signed thus (For Pelafina Heather Lièvre) and numbered 7/15 in pencil. When the author came to sign our stock, he also signed Phl in script on the "This is not for you page" together with a rough schematic drawing of walls, a door and three tiny explorers. This copy is unique in that Danielewski brought blue and red markers (to sign either Z or JT if we had any of the copies with those tipped-in pages, but he didn't bring a purple marker and we didn't have one lying around. So he signed in both red and blue to make a purple signature and added 7/15 and a small schematic of the tunnel in green ink. See photos. House of Leaves is difficult to describe. At the core (?) of this first novel is a house that is larger inside than it is outside. When award-winning photojournalist Will Navidson and his companion ex-model Karen Green move into the modest house on Ash Tree Lane with their two small children, their efforts toward normal domesticity are shattered by this discovery. Walls move, doors appear, and a vast labyrinth opens before them. Will decides to investigate and film the phenomenon; a mysterious old blind man dies while compiling the Navidson Record, a document describing the making of the film and annotating all of the interpretations which have sprung up to explain it; an apprentice tattoo artist discovers the manuscripts and continues the work. Haunting, scary, wicked, funny, puzzling, beautiful -- and, ultimately -- an elegant and moving love story. This book is not for everyone. But for people who love books, we think every collector will want a copy of the hardcover edition for the sheer beauty of the publisher's art embodied here. House is 700 pages long -- Danielewski and Pantheon have succeeded in creating a fascinatingly interactive and attractive physical object. The typography reflects the pace of the narrative, ranging from densely packed notations, some in mirror image, to spiraling print with but a handful of words on a page. Each time the word 'house' appears it is printed in blue ink; we could go on and on. House rocks! Signed by Mark Danielewski at Partners & Crime on March 14, 2000. Signed by Author.
