Item Description: H. M. Rulison, Queen City Publishing House, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1856. Full-Leather. Book Condition: Fair. No Jacket. Book has three parts: Title page to the first part is missing, but the content is an overview of anatomy and physiology, health and disease, botanic medicines, the healing power of nature, and current treatments for various diseases and conditions. Part I is 180 pages including its glossary and index. Part II is "A Treatise on Midwifery and the Diseases of Women and Children;" which is 223 pages with its glossary and index. Part III is "An Improved System of Botanic Medicine Founded Upon Correct Physiological Principles of Anatomy and Physiology;" it is 542 pages including glossary and index. Parts II and III are profusely illustrated with drawings of birthing and reproduction, etc. in the midwifery section and drawings of all the botanic remedies in the last part, including herbs, tree bark, weeds and plants of all kinds. The book is very fragile with the boards detached and the leather on the spine almost completely disintegrated. The leather on the front and back boards is chipped and torn, and in fact, the back board doesn't even appear to match the front board because it has a glued marbled endpaper while the front board does not. The text is foxed, and lots of pages are discolored from ancient, crumbled newspaper clippings that were laid inside; some of the pages are loose from the binding, but the text is all present except for that missing front title page. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # MD02702
