"This daring book is definitely not authorized by or connected with Playboy or the High M. Hefner clan. Item Description: Taschen GmbH, Koln, 2009. Hard Cover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition.. 1st printing. Text in English, French, German and Spanish. Small folio. 6 volumes in black cloth with gilt titling and design to spines and upper boards, with dust jackets, in a Plexiglas case. Also included is a facsimile of the first issue of Playboy, featuring Marilyn Monroe, in hardback pictorial wallet. The whole is contained in the original cardboard printed shipping box, with numbered label. 3506pp, including 59 full-size centrefolds and all 312 covers from the magazine's first 25 years. Respectively, the volumes cover the years 1926-1954, 1955-1959, 1960-1964, 1965-1969, 1970-1974, and 1975-1979. One of 1500 numbered copies (this is 0147) signed by Hefner, with a 7x7cm piece of his famous silk pyjamas tipped-in. Page edges marbled. Artwork reproduced in colour and black and white. A comprehensive, illustrated autobiography with chronological highlights from Playboy's first 25 years. Hefner's personal life and career, from cartoon-drawing chidlhood to astonishing success with Playboy, are revealed in the most intimate portrait ever. The anthology celebrates the decadence, sophistication and wit of the original men's magazine and its creator. A near fine, clean, bright and crisp set. A little light shelfwear to a couple of jackets, and a few minor peripheral rubs. A few spine ends of boards just slightly bumped, although this probably occurred in production. A hint of mobility to oversized volumes, again in production, but completely secure. A little light creasing around the stapled spine of the facsimile volume, which is very slightly rolled. The Plexiglas case still has its original removable laminate. The cardboard box has sellotape from shipping, mostly to periperies, and a little wear. The original polystyrene packaging is present but worn and sometimes broken into neat pieces (necessary to remove the case from the box). A handsome copy of an extraordinary production. An extra charge will be required for posting this heavy item. Signed by Author. Bookseller Inventory # 001202
