Gilt motif to red buckram, gilt titles to spine. Ex library copy (The Nairobi Club), bookplate to front paste-down, some browning and use. Good only. "A narrative of nine years spent amongst the game of the far interior of South Africa. Containing accounts of explorations beyond the Zambesi, on the River Chobe, and in the Matabele and Mashuna countries, with full notes upon the natural history and present distribution of all the large mammalia." "With seventeen full-page illustrations by J. Smit, E. Whymper, and Miss A.B. Selous." "Since Baldwin's book upon African hunting appeared, now nearly twenty years ago, no work has been published which can be considered in any way as a guide for men who are about to visit the interior of South Africa in search of sport, and would wish to know the state of the country at the present day from a sportsman's point of view. This want I hope that the present volume may to some extent supply, for as during the eight years I have led the life of a professional elephant-hunter, my pages are naturally chiefly devoted to the ferae naturae, amongst which I have been constantly living. Some of my conclusions with regard to lions, rhinoceroses, or other animal, may differ from those arrived at by other men equally competent to give an opinion; but, at all events, they are the result of a long personal experience of the beasts themselves, and have not been influenced in any way by the often unreliable stories of 'old hunters'". Four Separate Books: 1)A Hunter's Wanderings in: Frederick Courteney Selous,

Item Description: Arno Press, New York, 1967. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good Plus. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. For sale here are four titles from The Abercrombie & Fitch Library. All four were published by the Arno Press in 1967 and are not very common. And despite nearing their 50th birthday all four books are in very good condition. For example, the pages are exceptionally clean. And they were produced with quality paper that hasn't darkened. In fact the pages are quite bright. The pages aren't creased. You're not going to find dogeared corners. There aren't any markings. The books are NOT ex-library. There aren't any bookplates or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else on any page in any of the books. Furthermore, all four books are very solidly bound, without issue. All four have a good many illustrations. All four have a foldout map. All of the illustrations and maps are in excellent condition. The covers of the books are very attractive. They show very minimal wear if any (a couple of bumped corners). They are very clean (only one has a little discoloration in the beige fabric, quite minor). All four have black labels with gilt lettering on their spines that are in excellent condition. And that pretty much covers it for the books. All of the dust jackets are present. They aren't in perfect condition but they're well above average. I've rated them Very Good. I've provided photographs. None have any serious flaws. You'll see some minor edge wear. There aren't any chips or loss. There are only a few small tears in total. An occasional scuff. The spine of one dust jacket has a few small fissures/creases, not quite tears. The jackets are all quite clean. They are NOT price-clipped, none of them. And each book will be fitted with a protective cover. They'll look very nice together in their bookcase. The shipping box with all four books packed securely will weigh about 10 pounds. The cost by media mail will be approximately seven dollars. So I will add on three dollars of extra shipping to the usual $4.00 cost. Bookseller Inventory # 001006
