Book Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. THE BOOK OF COMMON PRAYER and Administration of The Holy Communion, According to the use of the Church of England; Together with THE PSALTER or PSALMS OF DAVID, Pointed as they are to be sung or said in Churches; but Without the Calendar, Occasional Services and Articles of Religion. Eyre & Spottiswoode (London) [nd, circa 1905] First edition thus. 630 pages. Miniature, 1 7/8" x 2 1/8" hardcover with sterling silver front cover. A wonderful antique 110 year old miniature book that weighs only 25 grams! Bound in original limp maroon leather with gilt title "Common Prayer" on spine, all edges gilt, with both original black front and rear endpapers (often missing) and with a lovely sterling silver cover. The silver cover portrays five cherub's heads which are clearly defined with four of them having wings based on a work by Joshua Reynolds, (see last scan), Louis W. Bondy, Miniature Books page 167. The sterling cover was assayed and is hallmarked on the front cover, anchor for Birmingham, "f" for 1905, with the maker's mark R.P. for Robert Pringle and Sons. CONDITION: Title page has light wear along edges, previous owner’s inscription dated 1905 opposite title page, o/w a solid Very Good or better copy. WITH HYMNS ANCIENT AND MODERN For Use in the Services of the Church COMPLETE EDITION. William Clowes & Sons, Limited (London) [nd, circa 1904] First edition thus. 861 pages. A wonderful miniature book, 1 7/8" x 2 1/8" hardcover that weighs only 30 grams! Bound in original limp maroon leather with gilt title "Common Prayer" on spine, all edges gilt, with both original black front and rear endpapers (often missing) and with a lovely sterling silver cover.
