Harrpa London, 1941. reprint, 224pp, map in text, red cloth lettered in white at spine, as in the sub-title, an account of the author's escape from Paris with his friend Dee from the advancing German army in 1940, describing their journey by bicycle with other refugees from France, Poland, Holland and Belgium as they made their way 600 miles south-west from Paris, avoiding where possible the congested main roads which received more attention from German aircraft, meeting some French military personnel running away and others preparing to fight, hearing the differing rumours of what France's leaders were planning, until they eventually reached the frontier with Spain where they battled with bureacracy and eventually won, and gained passage through to Lisbon and a sea passage home, rubbed and bumped at extrems., spine sunned, edges tanned and very foxed, four line ink inscr. front free endpaper, no dustwrapper, good, Seller Inventory # 42506
