Impresa tipografica ai frontespizi con un serpente attorcigliato a una pianta di giglio che lascia cadere a terra la vecchia pelle e il motto Nouus exorior. Ex-libris nobiliare settecentesco inciso dal Grado del marchese Niccolò Fraggianni (Barletta, 1686-Napoli, 1763), celebre giureconsulto e segretario del Regno di Napoli, considerato fra i precursori dell'Illuminismo e dell'anticurialismo napoletano (Cfr. Eugenio Di Rienzo in DBI, 49, pp. 580-583; sull'ex-libris cfr. Bragaglia, 577). Bell'esemplare, lievemente rifilato. Contraffazione napoletana del 1723 della cinquecentesca raccolta giuntina delle rime burlesche del Berni e di alcuni dei principali poeti di intonazione umoristica del nostro Rinascimento, alcune delle quali assai curiose o attinenti all'enogastronomia: in lode della peste, delle pesche, delle anguille, dei cardi, dell'orinale, del bacio, delle uova sode, del finocchio, della ricotta, delle fave, delle bugie, dell'insalata, dello sputo, delle campane, dei fichi, degli asini, del vin greco, in morte di una civetta, ecc. Il Gamba fornisce nel dettaglio alcuni accorgimenti per distinguere questa contraffazione dall'originale cinquecentesco: Quantunque sembru che abbia voluto farsi una contraffazione della vecchia stampa, tuttavia notabili ne sono le differenze. Nell'originale la prima facciata della dedicazione finisce con nobili, e la quarta facciata col solo anno MDXLVIII. Nella contraffazione finisce la prima facciata con ma da, e la quarta con solito. Di Firenze alli X di Luglio MDXLVIII. Il tegistro A IIII dell'originale è segnato per errore A II. Tutte le intitolazioni sono nell'originale in maiuscolo diritto, e nella copia in maiuscolo pendente. Gl'indici dell'originale mandano alle carte relative alla numerazione fallata, e quelli della copia alla numerazione corretta. Manca nella copia l'Errata che sta nell'ultima facciata del primo registro nell'originale. Molte altre differenze si potrebbero notare. Al recto e al verso dell'ultima carta bianca del primo vol. lo stesso Niccolò Fraggianni ha apposto una lunga annotazione datata 1725 relativa alla presente contraffazione che fornisce informazioni altrimenti ignote anche ai bibliografi: Codesta edizione non è già né di Fiorenza, né del Giunta, né del 1555, come porta il frontespizio, ma à stata [sic] contrafatta non prima di due anni qui in Napoli da due Professori di nostro foro d. Giuseppe di Lecce, e d. Domenico d'Orfi, nella loro stamperia, che tengono di controbanno [contrabbando]; , e con tanta simiglianza, che ha ingannati i più fini conoscitori, tra quali il Reggente del Supremo Consiglio di Spagna D. Alessandro Riccardi, il quale venendo qui da Vienna in quest'anno 1725, mi confessò averla pagata in Firenze a buon mercato per una dobla, credendo che fosse l'antica. Le tante oscenità che vi si leggono non fanno certamente verun onore agli Autori di queste Rime; tanto che Gisberto Voezio [i. e. Gijsbert Voet] per lasciare in un luogo sicuro un documento perpetuo da infamare i Cattolici, deposità nella pubblica Biblioteca di Utrecht il suo esemplare di questa operetta nella vera edizione del Giunta del 1548, siccome egli racconta in Disput. About this Item: Londra, e (3e vol.) Firenze (Napoli), 1723. Couverture rigide. Condition: Très bon. Trois volumes in-8 (10,7 x 15,7cm), titre, (14), 135, 294pp., titre, (8), 332pp. et XVI, 384, (36)pp. Reliure d'époque, veau moucheté, dos lisse richement orné de pièces de titre et de tomaison, filets, chaînettes, caissons à petit fer dorés, chainette sur les plats, filet sur les coupes, roulette à motif floral sur les contre-plats, tranches marbrées sous or, signet. (quelques coins très légèrement frottés, fente à un feuillet sans manque, présence de faibles brunissures et de rousseurs à plusieurs feuillets situées pour la plupart au tome troisième, erreur de pagination à six feuillets). Impression de Naples. Marque d'imprimeur aux titres. A la fin du tome troisième feuillets d'avis au lecteur et variantes. Bel exemplaire, imprimé sur papier Vergé (on notera que le papier utilisé pour le troisième volume est un peu plus épais que celui utilisé pour les deux premiers), établi dans une ravissante reliure d'époque. Vari errori di registro alle preliminari ed occhietto del terzo volume posto al primo. Collazione coincidente con le copie descritte in Iccu.
