Item Description: Gebbie & Co., Philadelphia, 1884. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good-. Two volume set. Bound in deluxe olive-green leather, with leather spine and corners and beautiful marble paper over the remainder of the boards. There is also beautiful marbled paper paste-downs and endsheets. All page edges are gold-edged. This set is in near very good condition, with only minor wear to the edges of the boards in a few places. There is a small spot to the top of the front joint on volume I wear the leather has started to split, but is not corner pulled away. Volume 1 also has a scratch mark in the middle of the front board, about 6 inches long and very thin, barely visible. The text blocks are tight and pages are clean and tightly bound. An extraordinarily well-preserved set. With 52 full-page steel-engraved illustrations of Roman leaders and other prominent Romans.
