Item Description: John Anthony Miller Studio, Ventura, 2017. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. A beautiful reproduction dust jacket for the 1951 first edition of The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury. This is a high quality reproduction dust jacket for the famous book published in 1951 by Doubleday Company. The jacket has been digitally restored by the fine artist John Anthony Miller using archival pigment inks and acid-free paper. The jacket has the small "JAM" logo underneath which states "Facsimile Dust Jacket" at the bottom edge of the rear jacket flap. This is done in tasteful manner in which it will not detract from the elemental beauty of the work. Further, on the verso of the jacket there is a small label affixed and signed and dated by the artist, thus making it a "collectible." These jackets will never be done in commercial quantities, each is printed individually by John Anthony Miller. After it is inspected it is trimmed and enclosed in crystal clear Mylar to protect it (the Mylar is removable) and pre-folded ready to put on your book. The jacket will also fit the very early 2nd or 3rd 1951 editions as well. If you have a book and are not sure if the jacket will fit, send me the dimensions (height, width, and thickness) and I can make the jacket fit any sized book you have. Bookseller Inventory # 011017

Item Description: Doubleday and Company, New York, 1951. Cloth Bound. Book Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First edition, first printing. Signed and inscribed by the author. Original tan cloth, lettered and blocked black or dark brown on spine. In original dust-wrapper which is not price clipped and displays the original price of $2.75 on front flap. 8vo. 252pp. Signed and inscribed on front free endpaper by Ray Bradbury to his long-time friend, collaborator and editor, "For Peter Haining! With thanks for your incredible kindness. Ray Bradbury. 3/24/87". Slight marking and denting to the cloth of the rear cover. The binding and text block are else in clean, VG or near fine condition. The d/w is clean and bright but has some creasing to the rear panel and slight tears at head and tail of spine panel and a small chip at head of spine. Just a trifle rubbed along fore-edge of front flap. The spine (which is notoriously prone to fading) is a touch lightened but retains most of its vibrant red colour with a few spots of uneven fading, mostly confined to areas at foot of spine. Overall a nice, sound copy. From the collection of the late Peter Haining (1940-2007). Peter Haining was a British publisher, anthologist and writer, a long-standing friend of Ray Bradbury who had been responsible for the first British publication in book form of many of Ray Bradbury¿s early stories (see Michael Ashley, William G. Contento: The Supernatural Index). A classic work of science-fiction which will always be a sought after title by collectors of the genre and a nice association copy. See our other Abe listings for several other scarce Ray Bradbury items from Peter Haining's collection. We will happily entertain offers from those wishing to acquire the whole of the Haining collection, subject to items being unsold. Inscribed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 000145

Item Description: Doubleday and Company, 1951. Hardcover. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. First Edition, First printing: Stated First Edition, First Printing, BOLDLY FLAT SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Ray Bradbury in black pen. Extremely Scarce example of a Near fine book and original near fine vibrant red and unfaded dust jacket. Unfaded jackets are quite difficult to locate as the red tones of the dust jacket most always fade to a pale beige. The book is in great condition with beige boards still maintaining their original sheen, with unfaded titles to spine. The boards have sharp corners, and no edgewear, with one small board bump. The binding is tight and square. The internal pages and end papers are clean and flat with No marks, No inscriptions, No stains, No bent pages and No foxing. The book was signed and inscribed on the title page by Ray Bradbury as ¿Larry!/Ray Bradbury/ 5/6/93¿. Beautiful clean, crisp book, appearing as unread. Please see images, including sample pages. The original price clipped first edition dust jacket is in near fine condition withOUT the common fading to the spine (which usually turns the red spine to a pale beige). Instead this unrestored jacket has strong bright vibrant colors with only slight toning to the front panel. The jacket has only a hint of edgewear to the spine tips, otherwise No edgewear, No chips, No tears, No rips, No stains, No rubbing and and No fading. The dust jacket is now protected in a new clear removeable archival cover. Please see detailed images. A very exceptional copy of this signed title in highly collectible condition. Presents well on the shelf. ADDITIONAL IMAGES AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST. Please see our Abe store for other SciFi titles. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # 001146

Item Description: Doubleday & Company, Garden City, 1951. First edition. Octavo, original cloth. Signed by Ray Bradbury on the title page. Owner stamp on the front free endpaper, else near fine in a near fine bright dust jacket that shows none of the spine fading endemic to this title. A bright copy. Ray Bradbury's second collection, The Illustrated Man is a marvelous, if mostly dark, quilt of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. In an ingenious framework to open and close the book, Bradbury presents himself as a nameless narrator who meets the Illustrated Man--a wanderer whose entire body is a living canvas of exotic tattoos."
