Demy 8vo (220 mm); (xii), (2) + 223, (3) + 168 pp; engraved frontispiece and three plates, one of which is folding; contemporary calf cross-hatch binding with ornate floral borders to front and back board and intricate gilt filigree design to the spine which is divided into six sections, the two in plain calf lettered in gilt; bottom left corner of back board rubbed; richly coloured marbled endpapers; plates lightly spotted and, in two cases, mildly waterstained; endpapers browned; page edges speckled pink. Lorenzo de' Medici (1449 92) was a statesman and de facto ruler of the Florentine Republic and an enthusiastic patron of the arts in Italy during the Renaissance period. Among his favoured were Botticelli and Michelangelo. He is buried in the Medici Chapel in Florence. Book.
