About this Item: Andre Deutsch, 1971. Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. The First UK printing published by Andre Deutsch in 1971. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. A very light push to the upper spine. Just a hint of toning to the text block. Minimal offsetting to the pastedowns. One neat previous owner's name to the upper front end paper. Light creasing to the upper corner of the first 50 pages which appears to be a production issue. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Tiny rub to the lower spine tip and some light creasing at the upper spine end and upper edges. The rear panel and flaps are exceptionally clean. The wrapper looks very attractive in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) to the title page by the author. This title won the 1971 Booker Prize and V.S. Naipaul went on to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2001.
