Exceptional copper-plate captioned engravings of scenes in Italy, including Rome, Tivoli, etc., engraved by Migliori. Includes a total of 83 plates plus engraved title, with the called-for 60 plates numbered one through sixty and an additional 23 plates, numbered one through twenty-three, the other twenty-three plates consistent in size and captioning to the other sixty, but with different scenes. Softcover with spine covering and binding threads no longer present, so essentially disbound. Measures 23 cm x 34.5 cm (about 9" x 13.75"), with plates printed on one side only condition very good with some edgewear and minor chipping to the outer margins, front cover has age-related soil and an old gift notation at the upper corner, plates very good with only light occasional foxing, one with a tiny hole within the plate mark in the caption area (no printed area affected), another with some fairly large coffee-colored spots in the margins, some other occasional and light finger soil to the margins. . First Edition in Latin (first published with French text the previous year). This series of etchings by Flemish painter and engraver, Theodor Van Thulden, a former pupil and assistant of Rubens, documents the large fresco scenes from the Odyssey which Francesco Primaticcio and Niccolò dell'Abbate executed between 1541 and 1547 in the Château de Fontainebleau.
