Item Description: W. Nicholson & Sons, London, 1890. Decorative Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Later Printing. Augusta Wilson (1835-1909) wrote this, her first novel in 1850, at the tender age of fifteen. She went on to become one of the most popular American authors of the 19th Century. A pro-Confederacy propagandist, she also nursed wounded soldiers. This is a much later edition; there is no date, but probably around 1890. This is a Very Good copy of a popular edition in a nice decorative binding. Maroon cloth binding, ruled, with a butterfly stamped onto the front cover. The spine has very fancy decorations, and notes that this is "By the author of 'Infelice'." Interestingly, Nicholson put the book into a beautiful binding, but used a poor-quality paper for the text. Although clean, it is starting to tan. But Nicholson included a Bonus: "Inez" takes up the first 323 pages, and is followed by "Rosemary and Jim" by Mrs. E. Prentiss. Total pagination is 366, with two pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. This volume has some rubbing and some glued repairs, but would be handsome on a bookshelf. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
