Condition: molto buono. 2 vol. in-8, pp. XVI, 330 (manca il primo f. bianco del primo volume); (4), 358, (2), leg. in cartone, duplice tassello ai dorsi. L'opera dello studioso irlandese Bowles (1720-1780) uscì per la prima volta in Spagna nel 1775; la grande fortuna dell'opera fu sancita anche dal fatto che l'anno seguente venne tradotta in francese. Prima edizione della traduzione italiana, ad opera di Francesco Milizia, impressa dal Bodoni nel 1783. L'opera è preceduta da una prefazione del traduttore, ed è seguita da un indice dei nomi; Azara, ambasciatore spagnolo a Roma, aiutò l'autore nella preparazione della prima edizione del suo libro e curò anche la traduzione italiana. Buon esemplare, le sole pp. 115-116 del secondo volume con parziale perdita di testo. Palau 34227. Brooks 227: ''Curioso perché nessun nome proprio, né periodo, è principiato con lettere maiuscole''.
