Item Description: McGraw-Hill Publishing, New York, 1966. Cloth/boards HB. Book Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. Becoming rare in the first edition, this novel profiles oil field roughnecking as it was 60 years ago. Pendleton is the pseudonym for Edmund Pendleton Van Zandt Jr., a Fort Worth oil man who describes himself as "an old roustabout from the Texas oil patch. A wonderful novel in itself, having tied with The Last Picture Show for the best novel of 1966 awarded by the Texas Arts and Letters Institute. Book is in fine condition, tightly bound, clean pages, sharp corners, whose only flaw appears to be the signature of a previous owner on the free front endpaper, now mostly erased, so that it's very faint. The DJ is not price clipped, very bright and clean, and without edgewear which is unusual for this book. Now protected by a mylar sleeve. Bookseller Inventory # 003316
