This book contains a portion of the "IT HAPPENED IN KANSAS" feature originated by the late Frank Arlo Cooper and published weekly in Kansas newspapers. The artist, a native of Lincoln, Kansas, spent a great part of his life depicting Kansas History in his own serious and humorous style. Features in this book were published weekly in the 1950's. Basically, the work is a series of many cartoons. Clean, fresh, tight and bright! Included with the work is a brief insert on "A Kansas Artist"; the author of this work. Stated "From Cartoons appearing in Kansas newspapers during 1960, 1961, and 1962." Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Very Good +; light toning to peripheral edges of wraps and pages; slight soiling to rear wrap. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is secure in comb binding with not broken teeth; text is secure in comb with no torn comb slots. Non-paginated (160 pp by count)12 mo. The author was a journalist/cartoonist who would take snippets of Kansas history and briefly describe them along with an accompanying drawing to illustrate the writing; people objects, happenings, events, historical events are all included. "It Happened in Kansas," ran since March 1935 as a syndicated cartoon in many Kansas newspapers up to the end of 1965. A clean very presentable copy.
