Item Description: Reilly & Lee, Chicago, 1929. Cloth. Book Condition: VG, or Better. John R. Neill (illustrator). First Edition [presumed]. A later book in L. Frank Baum's Oz series, written by Ruth Plumly Thompson and illustrated by John R. Neill. The List of titles of the Famous Oz Books, at the rear of the volume, lists this as No. 22, the last on the list. 252pp, b&w illustrations in the text, color frontis, 11 color plates. 18cm by 23.5cm. The interior is very bright and very clean - virtually 'as new' - and there are no markings of any kind. All plates are sound and unmarked. Hinges are perfect - no loosening or cracking. Binding is very tight and square. The light/olive green boards show only slight edge wear and the corners are sgarp. The color, pastedown illustration is bright and clean but shows surface rubbing and a small area of surface loss probably where a price sticker was once removed. Scans always available. We note that the illustrator's name is mis-spelled on the front cover, showing as 'Jno R Neill' Parts of the original dustjacket are present and laid-in. One fragment shows a label, in green and white, stating 'The 1929 Ox Book Jack Pumpkinhead of Oz'. Weight, 757g. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. Bookseller Inventory # 044148

First printing of Canadian edition, published by Copp Clark from Reilly & Lee first state sheets. 252 pp. + ads, 12 coloured plates, b&w line drawings, 4to, olive green cloth with front colour label and black spine titles, illustrated eps by Neill. All plates are present. Page-edges stained yellow. A very attractive copy with a remarkably fresh, unworn front label, tips of cloth lightly worn, cloth not significantly faded (a bit to spine as usual), few small soilspots. Contents clean and fresh. Front and rear hinges not cracked at all, unusual thus, but rear hinge shaken. Owner's name in "This book belongs to." location. About 3 line illustrations have been neatly water-coloured, few minor soilspots, edge-tears to a couple of leaves, a couple of leaves have the upper corner neatly clipped. A Very Good original copy of the scarce Canadian edition, no repairs of restoration. Scans available. Bookseller Inventory # 780332
