Item Description: Hodder and Stoughton, London, 1988. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. pp 190 A fine first edition of John Gardner's James Bond novel, Scorpius with a signed Christmas card from the author to his friend the publisher and Western writer Frederick Nolan laid in. The book is fine; the jacket is very nearly fine with a push at the bottom of the spine and to the upper corners. The card which dates from the period when Gardner was living in the USA is inscribed: 'To Fred and Heidi: Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Ever, John and Margaret'. The card shows a Maryland scene by the painter Eric Mohn and was found inside the book which was almost certainly a presentation copy from the author. Modernfirsteditions has recently acquired a significant archive of additional correspondence by John Gardner. Do please get in touch if you would like more information. Signed by Author(s).
