Item Description: OYAMA January 1934, 1934. Hardcover. Book Condition: Very Good-. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. Limited Edition. One of 500 copies printed; this being #157 Folio. One of 500 numbered copies printed; this being #157. Quarter cream cloth spine over blue Kasuri cotton boards, with mounted English title label on front, and Japanese title on rear board. All edges deckled, with yellow endpapers. Text in Japanese and English, and printed on a handmade paper, with 23 mounted facsimile illustration, printed on tissue; housed in the publishers wrap-around cloth case, with bone clasps, and mounted printed paper labels on spine and front cover. The book has moderate shelfwear to the cloth spine (but not bad), with a touch of light foxing to the title label; Scattered foxing to the pages in places, and to a few of the tissue ilustrations. Wrap-around case has heavy wear to the cloth, with shallow tearing at the corners, fading/wear to the spine and title labels, and a small piece from one of the bone clasp missing. Overall a Very Good copy in a Good wrap-around case. This copy is from the library of James A. Rabbitt (with his illustrated bookplate to the front pastedown), noted poet and writer; he published 'Ballads of the East' and 'China Coast Ballads' in 1937 and 1938 under the pseudonym of Shamus A'Rabbit.
