Seltene erste Ausgabe der ersten, in englischer Sprache verfassten Arbeit über japanische Stangenwaffen (Speere, Spieße, Lanzen, Hellebarden u.a.), beginnend mit den Bronzespeeren der Yayoi Periode bis zum Ende der Feudalzeit 1868. Das Buch wurden vom Autor, dem Graphikdesigner Roald M. Knutsen (geb. 1933), selbst illustriert und mit einem umfangreichen Glossar versehen. Knutsen erwarb verschiedene hohe Grade, u.a. in Kendo, Kenjutsu, Iai-jutsu, und ist ein Experte in japanischen Kriegstraditionen und japanischer Geschichte. - Kopfschnitt etwas stockfleckig, Bl. 105/106 mit Stauchspur u. Einriss am unteren Rand. Insgesamt gutes, sauberes Exemplar der Original-Ausgabe.
