Second Printing (June, 1950) stated in clean unclipped original dust jacket. Very clean green cloth boards with fish decoration on cover, dark green title box and gold lettering on spine. No fraying or wear. Binding is tight and square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean blank endpapers - no names, writing or marks. Illustrations by Ralph L. Boyer. 204 pages. Clean color illustrated dust jacket (designed by Samuel Bryant) is not price clipped (3.00 on front inside flap), has a few tiny edge chips and closed edge tears. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. At age 49 Jack Russell resigned from a business career because of ill health and with his wife Jill, fresh from a London ballet, established a unique fishing camp on the Miramichi River. A very good minus, generally clean, neat hardcover first edition with moderate shelf wear, rubbing at the corners, one corner bumped; hinges and binding solid, paper clean, cream white, with some foxing in the endpaper gutters and a blush at the top fore-edge. In a fair dust jacket with chipping at all fold edges, a light two-inch stain on front panel, a large 5" portion of the back strip missing, with the original price (the front panel illustration and the back panel b&w photographs are intact).
