Black cloth boards with a pasted color illustration plate on the upper board. Embossed gilt spine titling is bright. Lightly rubbed bottom edge and corners with one exposed corner tip. Cover plate is also lightly rubbed. Illustrated end papers. Also new to this edition is the title page's image of a range cowboy taken from a Mahonri Young statutette. Prior owner info in blue ink on the fly title page. Remnants of a small bookseller stamp on the rear paste-down. Small fore edge tear and related creasing on title page. The deckled fore edges are generally fine, but an aborted attempt to separate the leaf containing page xi from the leaf with the Table of Contents resulted in a fore-edge margin tear and the completed separation of the leaf with the illustration list from the leaf with pre-text fly title resulted in a jagged / chipped margin edge. Remaining contents ([xvi] + 263 pp.) are clean and firmly bound. NOT an ex-library copy!.
