Hardcover. Condition: Good. Daniel Boorstin's Copy of John Filson, of Kentucke by John Walton. The 6 by 9 inch hardcover book is 130 pages and in good condition. The dust jacket is tucked inside but there are some creases and folds. The maroon cloth boards are clean and the inside pages without markings. However, it is from the Smithsonian library with call number tag to the spine and barcode to the back cover with associated stamping on the front free end page, dated 1976. This is Daniel Boorstin's copy, with bookplate present inside. Daniel J. Boorstin was the twelfth librarian of congress from 1975 until 1987, appointed under President Ford. He was also an accomplished author of more than 20 books, contributing much to the fields of sociology and history. He was awarded a Pulitzer Prize in 1973, for his book, The Americans: The Democratic Experience. .

Light wear at cover corners; top cover slightly sprung, still Very Good. Dust jacket chipped with long closed tear on front, sunned at spine, only fair. "Filson's 'The Discovery, Settlement and Present State of Kentucke' published in 1784, became a frontier classic because of the stimulus it provided the great tide of immigration flowing westward through the Appalachian valleys." Filson also contributed to the legend of Daniel Boone, and was also an early cartographer of Kentucky-the map in the book is a replica of Filson's map. 092717A.
