Final charges may vary depending on size and weight. This book tells the poignant and remarkable story of an artist whose early career and promise matched even that of Arthur Streeton - his almost exact contemporary. From 1890 when works by both Streeton and Jones were first acquired by the Gallery of NSW, Llewellyn Jones began to fade from the scene possibly due to an early marriage and the responsibilities that that entailed. He did continue to paint and exhibit his paintings, albeit intermittantly until his death in 1927. From that time little was heard of the artist for seventy years at which point some 220 paintings and watercolours were discovered lying in three cardboard boxes at a boys' school. Most of the rediscovered paintings are of the Sydney area, many bearing interesting historical details. In a time of burgeoning modernism, Jones kept the plein-air principles of Heidelberg painting alive. This book explores the life and art of this remarkable figure. Seller Inventory # 72828
