Pages generally very clean and bright for age, minimal tanning to edges, occasional light grubby mark, some slight wrinkling. Some corners slightly stubbed, turned. Endpapers slightly grubby, small stains. Name and date, in ink, to FFep. All page ends gilded. Item Description: Glasgow: D. A. Borrenstein St. Enoch Square and at Skinner Street London, 1840. 16mo, 104 x 64 mms., pp. [iv], 296, contemporary embossed cloth to a geometric design, gilt spine (very faint), all edges gilt; corners a bit worn, but a good to very good copy with the contemporary autograph "John Murray" on the recto of the front paste-down end-paper. The autograph has a vague resemblance to that of the second John Murray (1778 - 1843). An Edmund Bellchambers appears in the Bankruptcy Directory, 1820 - 1843, when he was active as a writer, editor, and journalist. Not traced in Fleeman. OCLC locates a copy at Stanford. Centre de Services Partagés in Quebec lists a copy (possibly an ecopy), but with 194 pages. Bookseller Inventory # 8690
