First edition of two rare text of Symphorien, including his famous Symphonia Platonis.Polymath, doctor, war surgeon for the Duke of Lorraine and close colleague of Rabelais, Champier enjoyed a tremendous reputation in his hometown of Lyon, then the greatest production centre of medical books in the World. Thanks to his remarkable erudition, his treatise provides one of the most detailed and yet concise study of Galen and Hippocrates written during the early 16th century. This volume also includes Clichtove's Dogma Moralium Philosophorum, compendiose et studiose collectum, a classic of renaissance ethics which has become increasingly difficult to find. Fine frontispiece showing the greek philosophers playing a concert and numerous engraved initials along the text. Small wormhole affect the first fews leaves, otherwise good and crips copy. Médecin du Duc de Lorraine, échevin et proche collègue de Rabelais, Champier jouissait d'une réputation considérable dans sa ville de Lyon, alors plus grand centre de production de livres médicaux. En véritable polymathe, Champier propose ici l'une des études les plus savantes, et cependant accessible, jusqu'alors produite au sujet de Galien et Hippocrate. On trouve relié à la suitele Dogma Moralium Philosophorum, compendiose et studiose collectum, un classique de l'éthique humaniste du début du XVIe siècle, difficilement trouvable.
