Item Description: University of Georgia Press, Athens Georgia, 1964. Paperback. Book Condition: Very Good+. First Edition. VG+/0/1st. ed. Anna Maria Green, the author of this journal was born on September 26, 1844. She was twenty years old when Sherman reached Milledgeville., which was the state capital at the time. This diary describes the departure of the state legislature, the arrival of the Yankees, and the preparations of her family for their arrival, and the evacuation of Milledgeville. Anna relates the day-to-day activities of occupied Milledgeville until Lee's surrender. Interestly enough, there was a second volume to this diary, but it was later burned by her daughter; she thought it too intimate to be published. Book Condition is Very Good+; trade size paperback with some very light scattered foxing on back cover. Front cover is clean and unmarked. Interior has no foxing or soiling, and pages are white. Some darkening on spine. Binding is firm and secure. Title page is pulling away at top section of binding, the rest of page is firmly attached. Comes to you in an archival non acid document bag. Diary/Georgia/Civil War. Bookseller Inventory # 002202
