Item Description: New York: RHM Press, 1975. Hardcover. Book Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. KARPOV'S COLLECTED GAMES. Edited by David Levy. New York: RHM Press, 1975. This is the cloth bound issue in fine condition, with a near-fine dust jacket that has a closed tear on the upper front panel and a closed chip at the top of the spine. The publisher's price sticker, reading $13.95, is at the top of the front jacket flap. Anatoly Karpov has added his signature to his one-page Foreword (Page 13). The entire text is crisp and unmarked. Levy collected all of Karpov's games that were available to date, with Karpov's assistance and encouragement. This book was published just as Karpov was winning the 1975 Candidates Tournament and therefore gaining the right to challenge the reigning World Chess Champion, Bobby Fischer, for the title. Since Fischer did not agree to any of the FIDE terms governing the tournament, Karpov was to become the next world champion by default. 303 pages with 3 pages of the publisher's advertisements at the rear plus 6 pages of photographs. At the time of printing, Bobby Fischer was the highest ranking player in the world, at 2780, and Karpov later was to achieve the same ranking at the height of his playing career. This item can not be sold in California. Signed by Author(s). Bookseller Inventory # COB220001
