About this Item: ReInk Books, 2017. Softcover. Condition: NEW. Reprinted from edition. NO changes have been made to the original text. This is NOT a retyped or an ocr'd reprint. Illustrations, Index, if any, are included in black and white. Each page is checked manually before printing. As this reprint is from very old book, there could be some missing or flawed pages, but we always try to make the book as complete as possible. Fold-outs, if any, are not part of the book. If the original book was published in multiple volumes then this reprint is of only one volume, not the whole set. This paperback book is SEWN, where the book block is actually sewn (smythe sewn/section sewn) with thread before binding which results in a more durable type of paperback binding. It can also be open wide. The pages will not fall out and will be around for a lot longer than normal paperbacks. This print on demand book is printed on high quality acid-free paper. About this Item: Coleman Carnegie Langshaw, United States, 2014. Paperback. Condition: New. Language: English . Brand New Book ***** Print on Demand *****. Old men can be strange, cantankerous, humorous, embarrassing, humiliating, and full of life, even if their mind and/or body betray this at the end. Charles Gould Langshaw grew up a stiff-upper lip WASP wearing Brooks Brothers suits, wing tips, starched shirts and gray flannel pants. In his senior years, such attire was only for special occasions, instead he prefered shorts and Red Ked sneakers. But when one is old, the best of both can easily blend, right? so why not Red Keds and gray flannels? And for an 86-year-old man, not much time is left, and accordingly, not much time is left for his 54-year-old son with the old man. As the clock ticks faster, the pace of time collides with gravity, and so time is of the essence. A trip from the simmering heat of the south, back to where the two generations of a school legacy spent some of their personally most important times of their young lives, takes father and son on a trek from the Sunshine State and the Peach State to Dublin, New Hampshire.and back to their past. Good memories and a rebirth of a relationship can assuage the scars of the earlier rough years of father and son, in sometimes odd and humorous ways. And it never is easy when travelling with a hard-headed octogenarian, through today s air transportation system, the anticipation of disaster being just behind curtain, but one never knows, it might work out. In the end, as they say- it s the journey, not necessarily the destination, and so one has to take the tangible with a grain of salt, while trying to experience the intangible. Life at the end of life can be better than any of us can imagine, but of course, it cannot happen without a bit of heartbreak. In the end though, if you do it right, it is all well worth it. About this Item: U.S. Keds, United States Rubber Company, 1950. no binding. Condition: Good. This two softcover pamphlet listing includes the U.S. Keds Handbook of Sports and Games - - with a boy wearing a catcher’s mask and glove on the front cover - - with 48 pages - - and then the contents including short treatments on such sports as baseball, paddling a canoe, swimming, basketball, fishing, football, etc. - - with the football article written by Coach Frank Leahy. This copy is in good condition with wear showing to the covers and with a “bald spot” on the front cover where someone has removed a circular sticker and pulled away a bit of coloring. The text pages are in generally very good condition with no markings and with age-toning to the paper. The second booklet - U.S. Keds Handbook of Sports - is also a 48-page booklet with red softcover of three figures in a baseball game - and again with similar contents of articles by Frisch on baseball - “Official Little League Baseball Rules” - - also camping, golf, high-jumping, tumbling, etc. The two short features by Frisch and Leahy appear to be the same but most of the content in the two items is not duplication. Both items are profusely illustrated with artistic drawings and a few black-and-white photos with this second item in very good condition with again the spot of “removed sticker” on the front cover but beyond that no markings and only modest wear showing. About this Item: Harper & Brothers, New York, New York, 1916. Hardcover--cloth. Condition: Good. First edition thus. An ex-library copy with markings on the endpapers and title page. Single volume--six issues bound without covers and advertisements. Small quarto, 9 1/4" tall, 904 pages, beige and green cloth. A very good, clean sturdy, hard cover overall, BUT with dampstaining to the top fore-edge and top margin throughout--not affecting text or illustrations, with minor shelf wear, exterior rubbed at all extremities, minor soiling to cloth, interior hinges and binding solid, paper lightly yellowed. This is the publisher's edition, printed from the original plates and includes all of the editorial material (articles, stories, poetry, etc.) of the separate issues but lacks the advertisements and individual covers. It was the practice of the time for most of the better literary magazines to issue such editions before melting down the original printers' plates. Note: ''Harper's Magazine' began publication in 1850 and recreated the American magazine, serving as a promotional vehicle for Harper and Brothers books as well as the new 'literary' fiction and essay of the time, using sophisticated illustration and the best authors. Subject matters range from art, fiction, and poetry to history and science. As such it makes a terrific read as an anthology of its moment in time. An excellent resource. Seller Inventory # 30127
