Einband leicht berieben. - Hösten är den årstid då de viktigaste grödorna skördas, då naturen exploderar i färgprakt för att sedan vissna och synbarligen dö. I Kina är det yfn-krafternas årstid. Yin och yang är de kosmiska krafter som reglerar världen och tiden, där yin representerar kyla, regn och moln, natt och måne, jord, det mörka och fuktiga, det passiva och kvinnliga, medan yang representerar solsken och värme, vår och sommar, himmel, det ljusa och torra, det aktiva och manliga. Yang är förknippad med livets krafter, yin med sjukdom och död. Årstiderna ses som ett cykliskt växelspel mellan dessa två krafter. Under vår och sommar är det de livgivande yang-krafterna som dominerar, medan yin ständigt försvagas. Efter sommarsolståndet börjar yin växa, samtidigt som yang gradvis förlorar sin kraft. Efter höstdagjämningen har yin växt sig starkare än yang. Mitt i vintern vänder utvecklingen - yang börjar åter att växa medan yin ständigt försvagas.
