Condition: Good. 1964. 127 pages. This is an ex-Library book. Brown pictorial dust jacket over red cloth. Library copy, with expected inserts and inscriptions. Front endpaper has been removed. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners. Light tanning to spine and edges.

Fore edge and top and bottom are spotted with foxing. Text block is fine with no marks or wear. Binding is tight. Black and white frontispiece full page drawing illustrated by Margaret Fowler along with 11 other drawings in the text. Pictorial unclipped dust wrapper is in amazing condition for its age with vibrant, fresh colours to both wraps and only a small amount of creasing at the spine head. No tears; exceptionally minor knocking at two corners. We also have the first title in this memoir 'Hot Bread and Chips'. Copies in this condition are extremely hard to find. Graded as very good plus condition. The story of a family living in a back street of London's East End continues from the early years of the century to the years of the Blitz.
