Item Description: [London,] [s.n.] [c.1900], 1900. 7 volumes. Typeset facsimiles of editions published c.1770s by G. Peacock. 21 cms (Vol. 4 is 20 cms). Uniformly bound in cloth backed boards with a volume number on the spine. Volume 4 has blue boards instead of grey and is dusty with signs of use, the other volumes all clean and crisp. They were printed by John Camden Hotten c.1870 and given a series title 'Library Illustrative of social Progress. From the original editions collected by Henry Thomas Buckle'. Ashbee later claimed they were reprinted from originals in his own collection. These appear to be pirated reprints c.1900 of the Hotten printing. Bookseller Inventory # 7517
