Notes: Second authorized edition: the Author's Unabridged Popular Edition. The novel was initially published in an edition of 1,000 copies by the Orioli Press in Florence in 1928, and was almost immediately pirated by at least four different publishers. Lawrence had always intended to release a cheap version, and was spurred on to do so by the appearance of the unauthorized copies. In 1929 he approached Edward Titus and negotiated an edition to be sold at 60 francs, with a new introduction regarding the pirated printings entitled My Skirmish with Jolly Roger. 1 Kg. 1st Edition in this form (2nd authorised edition).
