Black cloth boards with the (white) titling to the spine dulled to the point of invisibility, but the titling to the front board - which is White - is Very Bright and Clear. The page fore-edges are 'rough-cut' and uniformly browning. There is a Presentation note in old ink on the front free endpaper reading "R. H. H. Chester. From the Author. January 11th 1940". A little very light foxing to the top edges of some pages o/w internally there are NO other Inscriptions or Marks and the book block is VG. With an Introduction by General Sir Hubert Gough. K. C. As Dugdale states in his preface " This book contains a narrative of my personal experiences in the Great War.
