The cover has rubbed edges and bumped corners and bears smudges. It is frayed along the head and tail-side edges of the back-strip and at the fore-edge corners. There's a previous owner's gift inscription on the front free endpaper. About 28 pages, in the middle of the book, have some creases to their head-side corner's as from being bumped. Item Description: Grosset & Dunlap, New York, 1918. Cloth. Book Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover Former library book. The cover is dark tan; on the cover the title in red with two horses with men on them over red back ground; the title on the spine is red. The corners and spine ends are lightly bumped with minimal shelf wear; the trimmed head is colored. The endpapers are brown with two pictures of people riding there is a stamp which says "with drawn" Andover, Me., the back endpapers had the usual library papers ripped out. The half title has a dedication in pen and a library stamp. The frontispiece (oval) is a black and white drawing of Buffalo Bill riding from an original painting by Rosa Bonheur. The interior although aged is very clean; there are 6 pages of other G&D books. 335pp Size: 5 x 7.75. Bookseller Inventory # 001137

Hardcover with dust jacket; tan boards with a silhouette of two horsemen on the cover and lettering in black on the spine. There is a Foreword and Conclusion by Zane Grey. The hinges and binding are firm. The only noticeable flaw is a bit of scratching to the top outside page edges colored in mauve. There are two messages on the ffep from the author's daughter. One states, "Good wishes of the author's daughter, Mary Jester Allen- founder- Buffalo Bill Museum, Cody-Wyoming. The mylar-protected dust jacket has a brown cover with white lettering and a color illustration of two men on horseback. The spine ends, edges and all four corners are chipped with two small closed tears. The back cover is a bit stained and discolored. This book portrays the life story of Colonel William F. Cody (Buffalo Bill) as told by his sister and whose daring and bravery as a pony express rider and scout in the Indian uprisings made him a famous fighting man of the "Wild and Woolly West". SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR'S DAUGHTER Mary Jester Allen, daughter of author Wetmore and niece of Cody, on front pastedown -"To Bill Hays, in remembrance of a visit to the Buffalo Bill Museum-Cody-Wyoming with all good wishes of the author's daughter Mary Jester Allen- September the second, 1930". Bill Hays was the son of Will H. Hays, who managed Warren G. Hardings successful campaign for the Presidency of the U.S. and was subsequently appointed Postmaster General. After a year in that position, he resigned to become most famously known as the first President of Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA), which under his guidance published a blacklist of actors and workers studios should not hire, inserted moral clauses into actors' contracts, and published an informal list of suggested guidelines for film producers. Book is Very Good, lacking the dustjacket, cloth lightly soiled and crease to top corner front board. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR. Bookseller Inventory # 004250
